Personal Project
I wanted to explore vector illustrations a lot more than I did in 2009, so I took it upon myself and grabbed my Facebook default picture and started tracing. After I got the initial outline I started playing around with shapes, colors, and textures. I used this illustration for my "About" page as well as a promo for my site relaunch.

I created an iPhone background for this image, you can download it here. Everyone was wearing Ray-Ban's @ Coachella this year, so I did some research, and realized that the artists creating the new Ray-Ban print ads were extremely inspirational. Inventive art direction and creativity. I was inspired by those ads and this Yeasayer song.
Heart of Color

Heart of Color

Personal Project
Another 2010 vector project, I tried different blending and converting techniques to make this heart. Once finished, I wanted to make a pattern out of it, but instead made it into a flower and created a background. I did a similar heart a few years back but I was never really satisfied, so I decided to try it again and I like it much better this time around.
The Fembot

Personal Project
I want to thank Dean Bradshaw who is a photographer from Australia who invited me to his studio in San Diego to talk design. He offered me some free photos that he shot to design with and I thought what a perfect time to create a half robot/woman case study.
The Gangster

The Gangster

Personal Project
This was my first case study. I sketched what I wanted, purchased my main guy and the rest slowly came along. I wanted there to be no real focal point, I wanted to express that this is the climax of the scene. The point was to show that The Gangster truly wasn't concerned with what was going on. He had it all under control, he decided to light up a cigar.

Personal Project
This was my last piece I created in 2009. So with that in mind, I wanted something from it to stick out from the rest. I wanted to utilize the same style but add something different and gore it was. I thought, what a perfect time to utilize this with my last piece of 2009.

Here was my follow up to 'Yes Girl." I absolutely love this style, its very vivid and easy on the eye. I wanted to make this one more of an 1980's workout video and I felt as if she was the perfect girl to help me accomplish that.

Personal Project
There was this one guy in my class when I was creating this piece that kept coming over and checking on my progress. He was intrigued and and kept giving me pointers. As I created this, I realized that that guy inspired me and pushed me along to try different colors and lighting so I decided to name it after him.
Looking Good

Looking Good

Personal Project
This was my first real project using anything vintage. I wanted to make something other people might like since I love looking at inspirational vintage art styles. I didn't try and add too much, I wanted it to be simple but I also wanted the planet to stand out from the rest of the photo.
Healthy Food!

Healthy Food!

Personal Project
Following the "Looking Good" piece, I created this. I took the same approach and stepped it up a notch. Started playing with a some more grungy brushes and I added some vector elements along with some galaxies and colors.
You're Hot

You're Hot

Personal Project
When I saw these projects from artists like Sakke Soini and James White I was blown away to say the least. I had never seen anybody take on a style that was so new and unique and put a stamp on it. Such different artists but I blended both their inspiration together to start my retro futurism style and started with this piece.

Personal Project
I created this project to enter into the Del Mar Fair in San Diego, California. I entered it as a student in my last year at Platt College for the digital arts category. I was lucky enough to win first place and take home the blue.
Hero

Hero

Personal Project
This was my first "print" piece I created in 2009. I spent all of 2008 learning web and usability and finally in February of 2009, I went back to my roots and started creating digital art again. This was the first image of a three part series titled "Avarafar."

Avarafar

Personal Project
This was my second piece of three I did in the Avarafar series. I wanted to create a home for the "Hero" of the series, an underwater world called Avarafar. This was a challenge because it was my first time I did any perspective work with an image and I feel like it came out great with all the small details.
Space Girl World

Space Girl World

Personal Project

I wanted to create an Atari 2600 video game cover. I came across a flickr page where the person had a lot of Atari 2600 games and I gathered information on how those games were structurally put together. This ended up being the final image of the "Avarafar" series.

Apocalypse L.A.

Apocalypse L.A.

Personal Project
I was in film class and we had just seen Apocalypse Now and I was extremely inspired by the flick so I created this with a Los Angeles take on it.
Tro

Tro

Personal Project
This was fun because I was experimenting with a lot of glows and colors I hadn't used before. This started as more of an exercise than a completed piece but after showing it to a few people and getting good feedback, I finished it and came up with "Tro."
Friend

Friend

Personal Project
I wanted to see what would've happened if I created 2 separate projects, placed them on top of each other and added some color for blending purposes and that's how I came up with "Friend."
